OMG seriously, this game is so underrated and overlooked compared to PM1 it is ridiculous.

I am not joking when I'm saying that this is quite possibly the best RPG ever made.  This game is ridiculously better than anything I've seen made by Square Enix and if anything really deserves a 10/10.

Okay so I've ranted about how I think this game is awesome. This is WHY this game is awesome.

One, very specialized party members.  This is easily one of the most important things you can have in an RPG, and my god, there is no game that does this better than PM2.  Each party member has completely different properties and an entirely different moveset that works most optimally for certain situations.  There is absolutely no redundancy in the four moves that each character can use, meaning that there is more balance in time to which party members are used.  This is probably why they made the Quick Change badge a lot more expensive in this game.  Oh, and one thing that is done so little in RPGs is being unique outside of battle.  PM2 captures this element perfectly.  Puzzles are solved by using party members outside of battle, and the First Strike option is just absolutely brilliant.

Two, action commands.  Any RPG is way better with Action Commands, and this game does not lack at all in having unique action commands for almost every attack in the game, even for ones caused by badges.  The stylish command system is also very brilliant and adds yet another level of depth to one's gameplay.

Which reminds me three, as unorthodox as it sounds, the fighting in a stage feature is really good.  With occasional gifts and threats from the audience, it adds another level of awareness the player needs to maintain.  Not to mention the stage malfunctioning.

Four, as you might be aware, this game uses three levels of stat meters (HP, FP, SP), which to my recollection is an ideal balance.

Five, there are also a lot of nice side distractions in this game, making it more than just an RPG where you walk around beating up enemies.

It's awesome, and needs to be recognized for all that seriously.

I personally liked it more than SPM
because of its badges.

But the pit of 100 trials was a pain to get through in that game.

This was pretty good, but I found it a bit on the easier side compared to the first.  I don't like easy games, they bore me, and I lose interest.  I do like Super Mario RPG, aka THE FIRST Mario RPG, it was great!  Sure, the graphics were quircky, but that added to the humor.

The Thousand Year door is definitely good for those qualities, but I find that it isn't **** oriented, for obvious reasons.  It is somewhat short, easy to pick up, and humorous.  It provides a nice change of pace for most people who play RPG's, but in certain aspects, it doesn't match up to, say, Kingdom HeartsII or FFX, especially in the ability/potential category.  I like specialists up to a point, but they are rather limiting.

Still, though, it is a GREAT game.  Definitely up there, but just isn't epic enough to be at the top.  In the humor category, it is at the head, aside from MLSS(&2).

Oh, and I'm shifting away from TB RPG's towards ATB or action ones, they get the player a more involved.  This is why I like FFXII so much, its battle system is AWESOME (although the one spell limit is annoying), but its story got drained.  So it evened out...

Yeah, I'm particular with my RPG's.

FFVI was fairly easy, but the storyline and character developement was some of the best in video game history. Locke learned to love, Cyan learned to forget, Terra learned what love IS, Celes learned to leave behind a terrible past and feelings. The story was always changing perspectives and was simply, amazing.

In The thousand year door, it didn't go that deep, but it was still a great game nonetheless.
