Hmm... not really, but I'd just recommend some artists; depends on what you guys like though on whether or not you'll listen.
MCR, Green Day, Yiruma, Nana Kitada, Rie fu, Yui, Aqua Timez, Stance Punks, Asian Kung Fu Generation, Orange Range, and... I could go on forever.

Huh.... I don't know. I guess they could be. I'd just label it as rock though.
For one of their songs.

They sound punk but punk is mostly about the band being angry at the government and I can't tell what there singing about.

Well, it's mostly about a boy.... Hmm... a direct tranlastion of some of the lines...
Listen well boy, humans aren't all that great. There is no point in a tomorrow. You are the only one that can pull the trigger of your heart.
All the young people said, I'm too young to die. In this beautiful world of ours. All the young people said, there's no reason to live anymore?
Yeah... it's kinda like that.

Breaking the Silver sky, I stick up, thickly staring To the point of being bored I would die before becoming that way. (I would rather die than stubbornly standing there, piercing the silvery sky with boredom)
Kid! Listen to me! Humans aren’t much of anything. Because such a tomorrow really isn’t needed, Don’t hide that clenched fist (Hey Kid, Listen up! People aren’t that important. That kind of tomorrow isn’t needed, so don’t hide that clenched fist.)
Almost to the point of selling off that dream You aren’t going to turn out that old Hey kid, the heart’s gun, The only one that can pull that trigger is yourself. (You aren’t quite old enough to be selling off that dream already. The only one that can pull the trigger of your heart is yourself.)
All youth says it, “Slash open my heart As for that guy who gave up that’s another story All youth says it, Our shrieking voices are freedom lurking under the bed. (All young people say “Slash open my heart, that guy who gave up is another story.” They all say “Yelling out is freedom lurking underneath the bed.”)
While our understanding doesn’t meet Exhaling power of that day’s injuries Even now feeling like falling over I will drag along from long ago. (Those injuries of the day when our understanding didn’t match and we wasted {litterally exhaled, belched, or vomitted} power. I still feel like I will fall over as they trail behind me.)
Until it almost broke apart I tried screaming. Not a single answer of any kind would come out except to sit there doing nothing but laughing I don’t want to become like those guys. (I tried screaming until my voice broke. The only answer that came out was to sit there and laugh. I don’t want to become like that kind of guy.)
All youth says it, “No matter what I do I won’t descend into nothing. In this wonderful world, Because I’m just living! All youth says it, “Outstanding truth and lies It’s for there to be no way for me to forget them. (All young people say it, “No matter what I do I won’t descend into nothing. It’s because I’m just living in this wonderful world!” They all say “It’s so I don’t forget all those truths and lies.”
All young people say it “I’m too young to die! The chilled faces lining up In this empty town.” All youth says it “On this windless night, because I’m trying to change something.” (All young people say it, “I’m too young to die! The cold faces are lining up in this empty town. They all say “From trying to change something on this windless night.”)
Our screaming, this voice, Even a terrorist couldn’t extinguish it! (Even a terrorist could not extinguish our screaming voice.)
The complete lyrics I found on another site... maybe I'll just post up the english for you though. =3 Yup, kinda is punk I guess.

I just post the link and it comes up as a video. Guess it automatically embeds the video. Hmm... I'll assume you know the American bands though. =D Wow, I just realized most aren't bands. OH, Asian Kung Fu Generation is really good though.
