Yes, SMG is amazing (I own it), I've played roughly two-thirds of all mario games ( not beat, but played). I'm sort of biased though, because SM64 was my first videogame, I'd ever owned.

I only included the main Mario platformers in this poll due to limited room on the polls. I regard Paper Mario and M&L as a spin-off franchise, as well as Mario Kart and all the Sports games. That is why there are only platformers on here.

Yep, I think because it's quite innovative, like 64.

Why do you think the best Mario game is SMB1?
IMO, it's really not very good at all. Out of all the other Mario games, it has one of the worst engines for jumping. The physics for jumping get you easily killed if you don't know what you're doing, and there really is almost no other depth to the game at all than remembering when to jump because the game is extremely one-way.

But it's a classic, who cares about "jumping engine" If its fun, its fun. Pong is just as assicting for me now as it was for kids when it came out.

Well, normally the last levels are supposed to be hard. They used the technollagy they had and paved the way for SMG
My two-cents

You have a point. The SMB music is also legendary and so is the level design.

I'm playing it again to try and get the last few stars, and as a filler until I get Mario Kart Wii.
